The gold mining enterprise was opened in Yakutia in 1992. Based in Ust-Nera, a workers' village in the Oymyakon ulus. Tal is translated from Yakut as choice. The company appeared in the difficult 90s, but was able to work its way up to a successful gold mining enterprise. The artel has high efficiency indicators - 2 kilograms of gold for each miner. To date, the total volume of gold mined has reached almost 3 tons. Has 3 subsidiaries. Conducts active geological exploration activities. We started working by hand, washing a little. For the first year of work - just over 750 grams. The company developed, received loans from banks, purchased and rented special equipment. As it formed, the Tal artel took an active part in auctions for the right to develop subsoil and acquired licenses for use. In December 2012, Tal won at an auction the right to develop a site along the Left Khangalas stream with all its tributaries for a period of 8 years. It is expected to extract about 400 kilograms from the site. Tal also has licenses to develop deposits along the Krylaty, Tin-Yuryuete, Komariny, and Buiny streams.

The photographs were taken in 2008 by welder Sergei and colleagues as a souvenir. After reading the material and searching the Internet, I persuaded him to publish them. I wrote down the text from his words and slightly processed the photographs.
Prospector Season
Artel “Drazhnik” is located near the urban village of Zvezdochka, Ust-May district of the Republic of Yakutia.
Sergei traveled to the village by train 5600 km to Neryungri, then about 1800 km by minibus through the city of Yakutsk.
Upon arrival, I signed an employment contract. The artel pays transportation costs.
The artel mines and washes gold in the old bed of the Allah-Yun River.
Gold mining technology
Last year, an area the size of a football field was prepared: the area was cleared of larches;

A dredge has been moved to the site.
Gold is washed with a dredge. Dredge (from the English drag - to drag, to clean the bottom) is a complex mechanized mining and processing unit, operating on the principle of a multi-bucket chain excavator, installed on a floating platform.
Has a multi-scoop working body for underwater development. It is used to develop placers, extract valuable minerals from them (most often gold, silver) and place the slag in a dump.
The dredge lifts gold-bearing rock, which is commonly called rockite here,
crushes, washes and sifts it.
Large nuggets like those in the Magadan region and Chukotka are not found here.

The season for prospectors lasts from late March to November. In April the dredge is covered with ice.
Preparatory and repair work is underway until June. This year, one of the 5 dredging artels was restored after a winter fire: the outside was sheathed with boards and iron, damaged electrical equipment was replaced, painted...
(Thanks to this repair, you have the opportunity to look inside the dredge: into rooms where it is not possible to be present during normal times for safety reasons; to evaluate the scale of power equipment, etc.)
Spring here does not last long: in June the snow and ice on the rivers melt, after which they begin to pan for gold.
Employees
The backbone of the artel is about 20 people - these are people who have worked for about 20 years. For them, the artel is the main place of work. In winter, they live in a nearby village and, as a rule, go on vacation paid by their employer once every two years, including travel expenses. Photos are below in the competition section.
Workers are also accepted under a seasonal employment agreement. This is how Sergei took shape.
There are no age restrictions, which are common in Russian cities: everyone who wants and can adapt to the rhythm of the mines works.
In accordance with the law on guaranteeing the rights of indigenous peoples, when choosing an employee, all other things being equal, the employer gives preference to residents of indigenous nationalities.
Labor day
Life is organized as in the pioneer camp of Sergei’s childhood! Meals, 6-day work week, 12-hour work day with lunch break. In addition, there are tea breaks every 2 hours.
During this time, you can rest and warm up: the temperature in April dropped to -36, in November to -23 degrees. Continental climate!
Personal contribution to the common cause.
The welder is constantly busy with repairs. The power transformer is being dismantled here: it will be moved from the field, which is closed due to low profitability.
Dredger competitions.
Management is working to increase productivity and professional growth of employees. The traditional competition for the artel's drudges was held.
Emergencies
There were several emergencies. The taiga was burning. Large forest fires are not extinguished here.
The dredge sank due to a malfunction of the water level alarm system in the hull. They pumped out the water and raised it.
There was a fight between workers. A policeman arrived - there were only two of them at 250 km - and drew up a report.
Long prospector's ruble?
The artel was chosen on the recommendation of a fellow countryman. It was known that the earnings there were not the highest, but they were guaranteed. They don’t “throw away”, as happens in other artels. (Most of the earnings in the artels are paid out at the end of the season). There is even a trade union committee and a newspaper is published.
The payment system includes: salary - about 2 thousand rubles per month, bonus coefficient depending on the specialty (the highest for bulldozer operators - 1.7) and bonuses based on production results. The last and highest point depends largely on God. It happened that the river bed changed direction, beyond which the production became insignificant.
